1st Edition of the Interdepartmental Athletics Competitions at Bureti National Polytechnic
In an electrifying display of courage and enthusiasm, the 1st Edition of the Interdepartmental Athletics Competitions at Bureti National Polytechnic kicked off with a massive turnout of 457 participants, all vying for glory in what was nothing short of a marathon spectacle.
The event, starting at 10 AM from the main gate, featured a course that had everyone questioning their life choices as they navigated a mix of terrain from Miti Mingi to Cheplanget Junction and through the famous Chebinyiny Hill or as participants now refer to it: “The Hill of the Great”
But fear not! The journey eventually led to Main Gate A, where participants limped their way to the finish line, some a little more gracefully than others.
The marathon was flagged off by the Head of Sports, Mr. Joel Nyawita, whose enthusiasm was as contagious as the runners' determination.
"I can confirm that we have untapped talent at Bureti National Polytechnic,” said Mr. Nyawita, clearly hyped.
“From what I saw today, we are shining in everything, from lectures to the track. Our mission is to cultivate these talents and with the unwavering support of our administration, we are destined for greatness!”
The event saw a blend of professional athletes and hopeful amateurs all competing side by side, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a polytechnic marathon.
But wait, there is more! Word on the street is that Bureti Polytechnic is in high demand for friendlies from various football teams, with multiple invitations flooding in.
As if that were not enough, Mr. Nyawita dropped this bombshell:
“Today's athletic participation is proof that we are taking sports to an international level. We are going for golds and when it comes to the KATTI Games, trust us, we’re taking home medals!"
To top it all off, the grand finale today includes a live performance by local artists, bringing the interdepartmental competition to a thrilling close.
